These 'Terms and Conditions' relate to all services provided by Psychology South Essex
CANCELLATION
We understand that situations arise which mean that you may need to cancel an appointment with short notice. If appointments are cancelled more than 24 hours in advance, no charge will be made. However, if less than 24 hours notice is given or you do not attend, we will charge the full session rate. Private medical insurance may not cover the costs of missed sessions, so please check your policy.
PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
As directed by our professional and regulatory bodies (British Psychological Society and Health and Care Professions Council), we undertake regular clinical supervision in order to ensure that the services we offer are of the highest standard. This means that elements of our work are discussed with another highly qualified Clinical Psychologist, but anonymity is maintained during this process.
COMPLAINTS
If you have any concerns about the service offered at any stage, please discuss these directly with your clinician wherever possible or with another clinician from our service. If, however, you have any more serious concerns or complaints that you feel unable to discuss directly with your clinician, please contact the Health and Care Professional Council.
EMERGENCIES AND CRISES
Due to our service structure and availability, we are unable to offer a crisis service. If you require immediate help or support between appointments, then please contact your GP, use the NHS 111 service for advice, or attend A & E in an emergency. Please see the contacts page for details of other services which may be helpful in this situation.
CONFIDENTIALITY
The content of our conversations with potential clients and clients is confidential. With your consent we may share important and relevant information with others (e.g. next of kin, G.P, referrer) if this would be of potential benefit to you. There is, however, an exception to this. If we assessed that there was a risk of harm to you or another, we are ethically and professionally obliged to share this information with an appropriate third party. This is a serious step to take, and we would only do so after very careful consideration. We would discuss this with you wherever possible.
DATA PROTECTION
Processing, recording and storage of personal information will comply with the Data Protection Act (1998) and with UK law accordingly implemented, including that required by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which requires organisations that process personal information to register with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Information will be kept securely and solely for clinical purposes. The exact processes followed are described in our Privacy Policy, which will be made available to you before you enter a contract with us.
